The apparatus Cat. No. 858-01D for measurement of apparent viscosity of lubricating greases (will be referred to simply as "apparatus" hereunder) is designed and manufactured in conformity to the requirements prescribed in the standards ASTM D1092 and JIS K2220.

Briefly speaking, the apparent viscosity measurement is effected with the apparatus as follows. Namely, a sample put in a cylinder assembly is forced out of a capillary by a hydraulic system, and a force developed in the hydraulic system is measured. The apparent viscosity of the sample can be calculated based on a predetermined flow rate, radius and length of the capillary, and the measured force. Recently, the apparatus is widely used for determination of the apparent viscosity of various kinds of adhesives, coatings, etc. as well as of the lubricating greases.
